Issues navigating nbcnews.com web site
I visit the nbcnews.com web site frequently. For the past +/- 48 hours, I have been having issues. I can open the home page and scroll from top to bottom just fine. However when I now double-clcik to open a specific article, that article page opens for about one second and is then immediately replaced with a page that says "Something Went Wrong. Access to NBC News is temporarily unavailable. The problem will be resolved as soon as possible." This happens on whatever article I select. It also happens on 2 separate computers.
I e-mailed support at NBC News. Their response was "we cannot duplicate this behavior." They suggested I try another browser. I do not use anything other than Firefox, but I found an old installed copy of Internet Explorer from... 2015. IE opened the NBC News main page and all of the sub-pages just fine.
My Firefox just updated to version 115.30.0esr X64 within the past several days. I am not certain if the NBC News issue happened as a result of that update or not. Has anyone else experienced similar difficulties with this web site or as a result of this latest update?

Hello
At the left Firefox 115.30.0esr - Firefox 145.0.2 at the right.
For information purposes. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1544079 https://whattrainisitnow.com/release/?version=esr
J'ai aussi vérifié, sous Linux.
jonzn4SUSE - Thank you for your response. I am also using AdBlock+... I have tried opening Firefox in "troubleshooting mode" and have the exact same issue. I have another profile I rarely use. I opened Firefox in that profile, same issue. I'm trying... not to... "refresh Firefox" because I'm afraid of loosing too many settings. Yes, I will copy and backup that profile and my "prefs.js" files before I do that. Going to try to create a brand new profile first.
I see where there is another user who is having an almost identical issue with... the "today.com" website. No doubt that site code is similar/identical to nbcnews.com...

Hello Windows7 - Linux - Windows10.
Yeah, AV shows the same issue on Win7. Looks like it's time to upgrade Windows or come over to Linux. ;-))

My latest: I have tried Firefox 115.30.0esr in Troubleshooting Mode. Same issue on nbcnews.com. I've tried creating a brand new profile. Same issue. I have a laptop with 115.27(?) esr, same issue!
Now today (11/27/2025) I booted my computer and went to the NBC News site. Again, main page is fine. But I clicked on an article that happened to... open with a video. The video opened fine, as did the rest of the article after the video. I "thought" maybe the issue was fixed. I opened several other articles... the articles that opened with a video opened fine. But articles that did NOT open with a video did NOT open correctly. I had an image for a second, followed immediately by "Something Went Wrong". I don't know what the difference is, but this is at least "more" information.
The other thing is that when I open an article that "fails", the browser URL properly shows the article I am trying to reach. And the screen does display... an image or text from that article for a brief second. Then the screen immediately switches to the "Something Went Wrong" page... but the browser URL still shows the same destination I am trying to reach... not a redirect to a "trouble" page. It seems that the browser is reaching and nbc is responding and displaying the desired page... but just for a second. Something else overwrites the screen with the "trouble" message. Don't know if any of this helps.
FWIW, there are still a LOT of people running Windows 7 out there. I have used Win 10 and I have a fully licensed Win 10 DVD that I will install (...will probably HAVE to install...) at some point. But from what I have seen... I will never move to Windows 11! MY attachment to Windows 7 is that I run 2 very important (to me) programs from the Win 95/98/XP era. Companies out of business, no updated versions. Everyone said they cannot run on 7. Guess what? I got them to run on 7! If I can get them to run on 10, okay... but I dread trying to do that!
Yes, I still have 1 laptop that dual boots win7 and linux and I plan on keeping it also. My win11 laptop has not been updated in 1 year and I'm planning making it go bye bye. I use HP business laptops ZBook, ProBook, and Elitebook that hold more than 1 drive. Not sure what you're running, but you just look into another drive or getting a nice external drive that you could boot from. I have a Trebleet external drive case that's fast and I can boot and work from.
