I can't open amazon.com. I've disabled my antivirus and have tried in 'troubleshoot' mode. I have cleared my cache. I have flushed my DNS. It's been going on for days. I keep timing out. Other sites do not exhibit problems. Chrome DOES open amazon.com quickly.

Can you show us what you get when trying the site? What happens under a different windows account? Who are you using for DNS?

it says: "The connection has timed out" yada yada yada "Try Again" It won't allow you to take a screenshot as it's not a normal webpage.

Trying Hulu.com has the same results.

DNS: 1.1.1.1

Don't understand: 'Different Windows account'

Chrome works flawlessly.

I'm using the same DNS. You are currently logged in as one user. Can you create another windows user account to test. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/create-a-local-user-or-administrator-account-in-windows-20de74e0-ac7f-3502-a866-32915af2a34d

I created new user account and got the same result. Amazon and Hulu time out.

Chrome and Edge have no problem, they connect immediately..

Both sites are now working properly for reason beyond my understanding. I didn't do or change anything. It's a pattern which keeps repeating. How long they'll continue to open is anyone's guess. I've been here before.

Thank you jonzn4SUSE for trying to help.

Hey jjjerdee, another cause could be if you're using a VPN. I would have trouble with a certain site that wouldn't load at all after I tried to login to it. Turns it out it hated a particular server the VPN was connecting to. Once I changed that server to another one, the site allowed me to login & no longer displayed an error page.

But since it works on Chrome & Edge every time, I feel conflicted. It can't be a VPN issue. I wanted to blame your ISP at first because the problem is just limited to 2 websites. But maybe you have to dig deeper in Firefox & check all your installed addons. Disable them one by one until the websites work or just disable all the addons to see if you can get those websites to consistently load the next time the timing out issue happens.

You would be surprised at which addons can cause something like that. I would probably look at any ad blocking or site blocking addons you have. And definitely any privacy related ones like Privacy Badger, Ghostery, Decentraleyes, NoScript, etc. Also if you have Firefox's built-in Enhanced Tracking Protection set to Strict try setting it to Standard to see if it gets around the problem: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/enhanced-tracking-protection-firefox-desktop#w_what-to-do-if-a-site-seems-broken

There's a list of Privacy/Security addons here in case it helps: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/extensions/category/privacy-security/

Let us know if you track down the problem, would really help anyone else seeing the same weirdness.

Thank you for your reply.

The problem is not occurring at this time.

I have a VPN but rarely use it. I had tried with and w/o the VPN and it did not matter.

Tried in 'troubleshoot' mode to no avail so the add-ons and extensions did not seem to be the problem.

I auto-delete cookies on exit so leftover cookies shouldn't be the problem.

It's baffling. I know it'll come back, it's just a matter of when.

Well, Firefox worked perfectly for 3 days and now it's not connecting to Amazon or Hulu once again. I don't know of any event that could've triggered it or why it has problems with these two sites. Baffled!

Here's a new development:

Firefox can't reach Amazon or Hulu UNLESS I'm using a VPN. I have both Norton and Surfshark, both of which allow Firefox to find these sites. Without them, Firefox doesn't connect. message is it can't connect to server.
