For a couple of days my ad blocker Ghostery has not blocked any ads. Deleted Ghostery and tried another one ,adblocker ultimate, and it also will not block any ads. I really hate refreshing Firefox as that forces me have to go in an fix all my browser settings ...again. Is there some other thing to try to get one of them to work?

Hi Bobn, This could be caused by a malware infection on your computer.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which will work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Safety Scanner https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security/ threat-protection/intelligence/safety-scanner-download

MalwareBytes Anti-Malware https://www.malwarebytes.com/premium/

Anti-Rootkit Utility - TDSSKiller https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/tdsskiller/

MalwareBytes AdwCleaner https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/

ESET Online Scanner https://www.eset.com/us/home/online-scanner/

(Malwarebytes Chameleon - allows installation of Malwarebytes on an infected system https://www.malwarebytes.com/chameleon/)

Running more than one or all of the above mentioned Scan Tools is recommended since they scan at different levels of your computer. And, of course, run the scans with Firefox Closed.

Thank you. I do have Malwarebytes pro running all the time. I checked for malware. I gave in and refreshed Firefox...now all my bookmarks are gone and none of the fixes work!! Frustrated with firefox.

A Refresh should have created a folder named Old Firefox Data on your desktop - I hope you didn't delete it.

You can Import your bookmarks from that folder into your Bookmarks Library.

Open the Bookmarks Library (I use Ctrl+Shift+B) At the top select Import & Backup Select Restore At the bottom of the list select Choose File... Select Desktop in the left pane Open Old Firefox Data Open BookmarkBackups folder select the newest backup and select Open

It did create that folder. I followed the instruction to use it but it said it was empty. I restarted my computer tried again nothing in there.,non in Firefox. Restarted computer again , opened Firefox and my bookmarks had reappeared. Some sort of glitch apparently. I am just happy to have all my bookmarks back and my Adblocker working. Thank you for attempting to help.
