Why would you turn off updates. It is not as if they are frequent and running old version is a security risk.

Why are you asking this? Updates are optional, this option is configurable. Why can't the application do what it supposed to?

It might be stuck on a previous download. I suggest you delete the program directory.

That said, I agree with Matt. It's generally unwise to be running a 1+ year old version.

Just so you know, the old vulnerable Tb 31.4.0 does not have any security fixes added in since. https://www.mozilla.org/security/known-vulnerabilities/thunderbird/
