Greetings,

When I download any file that has a name containing a space character, the file type is lost when I locate the file in the temporary downloaded files.

Take below example: file name "The File.pdf" after download the file downloaded becomes as: "The" all characters after the "space" are gone and the file type is also gone with it.

if the file downloaded does not have a "space" character in file name, the above issue does not apply and the file works as intended.

when I try to download the same file using any other browser such as Chrome, the file downloads correctly and all characters including the "space" are retained.

I've seen some other people asked same question in the community however no solution was applicable to this specific issue.

regards,

I have the exact same problem with MacOS El Capitan. This started a couple of revisions ago and so today I upgraded to 57.0 and the problem did not go away.

Steps to reproduce: 1. Go to Google and do a search on some sort of icon or graphic using the Image tab. 2. Select a graphic to focus on. 3. Drag & Drop to the Finder location. 4. The file will show up in the Finder, but as a generic file format with no extension saved with the file (i.e. it's not just that you can't see it, the extension is missing).

If you instead right click on the graphic and select "Save Image As..." the file saves to the Finder with the file extension intact. So the problem here seems to be with Drag & Drop, not the file and not other aspects of Firefox.

I double checked with the same graphic in Google's Chrome and Drag & Drop worked as expected (i.e. with the file extension).

Thanks for looking into this super annoying problem :D
