Hi, I love your program except for one thing. Can you put the trash can icon in each email, like Outlook does? I get a lot of emails and need a fast delete method. I add them to junk and unsubscribe where possible, but they still keep coming.

If the delete button is in each email, then I can keep my eye on the text without have to switch my attention to the delete button where you currently have it. Even worse, the position of the delete button changes depending on the content of the email! So unless I switch my attention back and forth, I will end up archiving or clicking the junk or More buttons. Right-clicking to access the delete button takes even more time.

Thank you for your condideration of this suggested improvement. I know all users will appreciate it too! Greg

Hi, Having a problem with TB that started on April 9th. It stopped retrieving from my POP3 account that was transferred to Yahoo from Cox Communications 2 years ago. Our IMAP accounts have no problems. I CAN send emails, and the new messages do show on the web portal. My phone can also receive messages. on my PC TB tries for about 10 minutes to get the messages, then shows an error message "The DELE command did not succeed, error marking a message as deleted. Mail server pop.mail.yahoo.com responded too many requests". For a couple of weeks I found some messages never downloaded (most did) but now I get none. Interestingly today when it happened I would hear the audio announcement for the account there was mail, but none showed. Server settings are what is specified, tried restarting in Troubleshoot mode to no effect, and updated TB to next version. Still stuck. Any help is appreciated!

p.s. Just to complicate more, Windows did an update dated April 8, installed sometime on April 9.

Solution found: I found a year-old backup of my TB profile and replaced the existing one with it (after first copying the existing one for safety). That worked, except ALL messages were downloaded again. It appears every time TB tried to access messages it started at the beginning, so there were multiple copies of each old one to delete. A small price to pay for getting TB back online. So the problem was a corrupted profile, reason unknown.

I have moved my old folders from a MacBook Pro with an Intel chip ("old computer") to a MacBook Pro with a M4 Chip ("new computer"). Prior to moving I updated the updated Thunderbird on the old computer to version 137.0.1 and installed the same on the new computer. Since I cannot transfer files via USB I copied all of them to OneDrive and then shared that folder to the new computer. The OneDrive folder can be seen on both computers; the same profile m5wv3t89.default, and its contents can as well (e.g. Mail -> pop.rcn-1.com -> Inbox and Inbox.msf). I point the new computer's Thunderbird to the same Local Directory. It appears to create a new index file: It creates another one with a different suffix: Inbox-MacBookPro-2.msf -- the same size as the Inbox.msf. So far so good...

In the new computer Thunderbird I can see the Inbox and all the Local folders. However, when I attempt to look at an email, I select an email, and the pane below the email is solid white. I see no text. (see screenshot below) I generally run in Dark Mode. And on the settings page "Enable dark message mode" is checked, and "Show dark message mode toggle" is also checked (but I have no idea where to find the toggle!).

How do I get Thunderbird to display a selected message? (if it is only black text on white background that's fine ... or if it can be white text on a black background -- dark mode -- that would be better). But right now I can't see the message text, period!

Previously, I was able to disable having collapsed folders should message count totals of their subfolders by setting "mail.folderpane.sumSubfolders" to false.

I recently moved to TB 128 and while I still have this set, collapsed folders are still showing message counts that include the message counts of all their subfolders. I want collapsed folders to only show message counts for the messages actually in that particular folder, not the count of all message in all its child folders.

Is there any way to get this back in TB 128?

I can't send e-mails from one of my adddresses in Thunderbird. I haven't changed the password on this account. When I try to send an e-mail it won't send and I get the following two messages. Entering the password again makes no difference. What can I do to resolve this? Thanks.

Sending of the message failed. Unable to authenticate to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.aol.com. Please check the passsword and verify the 'Authentication method' in 'Account Settings | Outging server (SMTP)'.

Login to server smtp.aol.com with username xxxxxxxxxxx@aol.com failed.

It's OK, this is now resolved. I just needed an app password from AOL/Yahoo. Thanks.

If I quit Thunderbird and restart the new emails now show in the inbox.
