As a new user, I installed Thunderbird version 38.1 in order to convert my PST file to Thunderbird. This version will not allow me to update to a newer version. I have already backed up my profiles according to the instructions found in the support section. If I install the current version, what files do I replace in the new version from the earlier version in order to get my folders and emails back? I want to keep all of my emails and file structure and make them visible in the new version. I am assuming that the new version will overwrite the old one and that the old profile will need to be cut and pasted in to place. Or am I wrong? Are there additional steps to take to have Thunderbird look at the correct profile? have seen some descriptions of what to do but I am a technical novice and I am not sure that I completely understood how to get Thunderbird to look at my original profile. I understand that a version specific new profile will be created in the new version. I just don't know how to get my emails and folders back.

Thanks for any help or advice you can give.

Oops, forgot to mention that I have Windows 10 on a laptop PC. Also, I have seen the help article for Version 68 but since the latest version is much higher than that, I didn't want to assume that the answer was the same.
