Mozilla will not let me sign into my Amazon account without using a passkey. I have never established a passkey and I do not wish to use my phone to sign in and without using one of those two options, my computer is completely locked and I have to shut it down and reboot or sign out of Microsoft in order to regain service. I have deleted Firefox from my phone...I have deleted the Amazon app from my phone, and I unsynched everything before I did so. I have errased all of my cookies and cleared the cash. I use an Apple phone which is equipped with an excellent browser, and unless I can find some work around for this I am going to delete Firefox from my PC as well.

I totally understand your frustration — this seems to be an issue with Amazon trying to force passkey login, even if you never set one up.

Here’s what worked for me:

Disable passkeys in Firefox:

  • Open Firefox and type about:config in the address bar
  • Search for: security.webauth.webauthn
  • Double-click it to set it to false
  • Restart Firefox

That disables passkey support so Amazon should fall back to the regular password login.

Thank You. That worked very well.

In my frustration, I have to admit....I did try the microsoft browser and came up with the same problem, showing that, as you say, this is an Amazon issue and I deeply appreciate the support from Mozilla, and the ability to choose solutions like this from experts like you. Thank you, again
