I'm an intern and my company recently made an email for me to ease communication. I open the account on my Thunderbird and I am able to receive the emails in inbox well but I could not send my email due to Outgoing server (SMTP) timed out. I already tried the steps I found on the internet such as ensuring the port is correct, excluding the app from the firewall, increasing the timed out from 100 to 300 and restarting the app and my laptop. I still received error in sending out messages. Please help. Below is my Outgoing server information. Do let me know if i need to provide extra information to assist in aid. Thank you in advance.

What I have noticed is the Thunderbird 128 series startup email check and/or "get all messages" is quite slow compared to previous versions.
Thunderbird 102.15.1 took only 4 seconds to check 10 email accounts, Thunderbird 115.18.0 took 5 seconds, but Thunderbird 128 and 136 series takes 15 seconds. All of these have used the same user profiles.
Is this slowness by design?

I upgraded yesterday from Linux Mint 20.3 to Linux Mint 21 with Thunderbird 115.18.0. Since then whenever I open an email the window is at top left of the screen and is partially obscured. I can move it easily, but new messages always default to the top left position, unlike the Thunderbird in Mint 20.3 where new messages defaulted to the last used position. Can I change this behaviour?

J'ai essayé de supprimer le compte pour le réinstaller d'abord avec un compte mais impossible de le rajouter à Thunderbird, j'obtiens un erreur inconnu à la recherche du serveur sortant smtp.videotron.ca Je peux cependant recevoir mais pas envoyer pour les autres adresses de compte videotron. Mes comptes Hotmail et Gmail fonctionne très bien. Merci de venir à la rescousse. Danièle

Last friday, Win 10 update itself. Cause a lot of trouble. I've uninstall this update and all seem to be well again. With Thunderbird, the main problem was i was unable to send a message : smtp problem (which is not due to thunderbird nor from my mail provider, but from W10's update) But there still a problem with my beloved thunderbird : - the templates i use are inactives. When i double-click on them, nothing happen. Even with right-click, "new message from template" : nothing
The only way to use them is to right-clic > open > open in a new [tab/window] > copy and paste in a new message... Even "Modify as a new message" is not working except if i first open it in a new window (and then, when in this new window, CTRL+E).
Before that mess, i was running 128 ESR (up to date).
In desperation, i've done that : - Testing new install of 128 ESR with no uninstall of previous version : same problem - Testing new install of 136, with no uninstall : same problem - Done these both again with uninstall : same problem.
Restarting my computer each time, off course (some much time lost from this morning... ) That's feel me crazy !
I will be grateful to have some help.

Hi everyone, I use Thunderbird with the integrated calendar extension to invite people to meetings. Within Thunderbird, the message and invitation arrive just fine: you can read everything when the email arrives in the normal message area. However, when I send the invitation to clients using Outlook, they only see an empty email with the option to accept the invitation (or not). Once they accept, the email disappears from their inbox (which is probably a different problem). More importantly, when they open the appointment in their calendar, they have to click on an attachment before they see the description (i.e. the link to an online meeting).
It seems that the invitation sent by Thunderbird is not fully integrated.
Does anyone know how to fix this? Looking forward to your response,

I am plagued with this error message on various accounts. The folders have opened before and it exists on the Gmail website application.
The SSD is fine with plenty of available space. Over twice needed by the system.
The profile folder is 65GB. Can Thunderbird handle that much data storage?

If I try to attach a file by starting with the file > send to > mail recipient or try to trigger Thunderbird with an email address in a browser or start with a distribution list in the address book, all fail.
All produce the following diagnostic: "Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because connecting to Outgoing server (SMTP) localhost failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify that your outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again."

If I create a custom field "Date" which apparently presents the field as plain text, "Date contains 18:51" matches e.g. Date: Sun, 5 Nov 2017 18:51:34 +0000 but I believe fails to recognise time offset.
