In Thunderbird all of a sudden my sent e-mails are going in to the sent box of ANOTHER e-mail address I have on Thunderbird. I looked at some similar posts and think my settings are correct but obviously not. Please help! Thanks, Adam

I'm trying to create a calendar event with irregular recurrence. Not only is the starting time different, but also the duration. Since AFAIK this is not possible using the interface, I directly edited the .ics to this:

RDATE;VALUE=PERIOD:20260506T063000Z/20260506T130000Z,20260507T054500Z/20260507T110000Z

I then manually synced the calendar. The starting time is honored, the duration, however, is not. I found the entry in the .ics changed by Thunderbird to this:

RDATE:20260506T063000Z RDATE:20260507T054500Z

How can I get Thunderbird to honor the different durations?

Thunderbird keeps opening a Google authentication window, asking which account to use. I have two gmail accounts (both of which work just fine), and another google account that I manage a calendar for (it works fine as well). How do I work out which account is seeking authentication?

I have spent literally hours on this - as has my webmaster from LaborArts, and my support desk at Firstlight.net, which provides the email.

I have used Thunderbird as an email platform for decades. in the past few weeks it has stopped keeping copies of sent emails and stopped saving drafts IF they contain any links or photos or anything other than plain text. I get a message allowing me to save it to the local folder on the computer. This is useless, as I use the email via a browser at work AND on computer at home, so it needs to be saved on the server.

Can anyone help? The message exactly reads: "Your message was sent but a copy was not placed in your sent folder (Sent Items) due to network or file access errors. You can retry or save the message locally to Local Folders/Sent Items-rachelb@bestweb.net"

Trying to sync my outlook and gmail calendars in Thunderbird 140.10.1 and consistently getting an error I haven't seen before: "status.Settings.138". I'm trying to remove a couple accounts that I no longer use in Thunderbird. A window keeps popping up asking for a password, but the mail service is no longer available. When I click on the red delete button for that account, nothing happens. I've deleted all the mail in one of them which I was able to do as I thought I might need to do that first, but I still can't delete it after that. The other one won't even let me delete the emails. How do I delete these so I stop getting asked to put in a password for accounts that are no longer valid and I don't want anymore?

For the last 2 months I have been working to configure Thunderbird to fully replace my Gmail UI usage after their recent change to workspace options and using data to train gemini. When you deactivate those gmail features the first thing you lose are tabs for your Inbox, your Updates and your Promotions.

So far I have used tags, ThunderAI, Ollama and a locally hosted LLM to replicate the sorting of my inbox, but now I would like to be able to configure the Thunderbird UI to allow separate tabs in the menu bar for different folders, in this case Inbox, Updates and Promotions. With Inbox still being the gmail hosted main inbox and Updates and Promotions now being local folders stored in my local thunderbird installation.

Can the Thunderbird UI be configured to display folders as tabs as a default setting? I tried the "folder selection" button under customize on the toolbar but that just gives me a drop down, which is not what I want.

I can receive emails fine. But when I attempt to forward an email TB tries using the wrong SMTP server, and an email address that no longer exists in any email account. For example, the email is in a yahoo account and TB tries using a gmail server. I have email accounts (in TB) with gmail, yahoo, rocketmail, AOl, and verizon.net. I have verified ALL server settings for each account as correct. I first experienced this in ver. 140.8.1esr(64-bit), and updating to 140.10.1esr (64-bit) did not resolve the issue.

I can receive outlook e-mail but I cannot send from Thunderbird. I am asked for a password for the specific Microsoft server. I enter my Microsoft account password but this does not work. Security setting is STARTTLS withNormal Password authentification. My other Thunderbird non-MS e-mails are problem free.

When adding a new email account, the built-in web browser launches and displays the OAuth screen. To verify the security of the destination site, I want to click the green lock icon in the URL bar to check the details, but I can’t click it.

Does a green lock icon mean a secure connection has been established?

Thunderbird for Linux Mintmint-001 - 1.0

I run two browsers on Linux Mint 22.3

Librewolf and Waterfox.

I prefer Waterfox. It is set as default in its own settings

I open preferred application in system settings and choose Waterfox as preferred WEB. Thunderbird is preferred as MAIL I click on an email, waterfox promptly opens my 4 home pages....not the email I return to preferred applications and choose Librewolf instead of waterfox, click on the email again, and it promptly opens the email.

Waterfox has been set as the default browser. I am looking for a way to set Thunderbird to open emails with waterfox......I cannot find such a setting in Thunderbird.

I searched and found this : Make sure to check the settings in both Thunderbird and your operating system to ensure Waterfox is selected as the default for opening links.

Is there a way to do this in Thunderbirds settings?....It does not make sense that there would be, becasue Librewolf opens the email anyway....

Thunderbird is used on a domain network of 100 computers, all connected to a Carddav address book. About 10 computers have stopped syncing their address book. Reconnecting the address book doesn't help. Newly added email addresses don't sync. Everything is fine on the other computers, all running Windows 10.

Hi have various hotmail and live accounts already active in Thunderbird. Tonight, I tried to add a new hotmail account for my mom. The hotmail account is active and working well using the microsoft web browser.

I tried to add the new email to Thunderbird and in the first stage a green box with a checkmark appears " saying Configuration found in mozilla database.

IMAP box says: Incoming Imap SSL/TLS outlook.office365.com

Outgoing SMTP STARTTLS smtp-mail.outlook.com

username xxxxx.hotmail.com

I press done, and a yellow box appears saying "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password. Now I did notice on my other hotmail accounts in Thunderbird, the outgoing says: smtp.office365.com and NOT smtp-mail.outlook.com I tried making the new account exactly like my other 5 live/hotmail accounts. Outgoing> smtp.office365.com. And still no go. The new email addy won't connect.

So I thought, maybe it's a bad email or the way I created it. So I created a NEW hotmail email address and same thing. Followed all the steps and same yellow non connect error box appears. The setup in the picture is exactly like my other accounts - and they all work fine. Has anyone tried to add a hotmail addy recently? I never had these issues when I set up the other addresses 4 or 5 years ago. Thanks guys

Hey, I want to set up my .gmx.de mail account in thunderbird (140.10.0esr (64-bit), Mozilla Thunderbird Snap for Ubuntu). it used to work, on my phone and the gmx website it is working. I did not change any of my credentials but suddenly it raised the "unable to log in to ..." error on my laptop only (Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS). After several tries I deleted the account and tried to set it up again from scratch. It finds a server profile which is consistent with the one on my phone (where it is working just fine) but login is not possible using the same password.

I recently moved thunderbird from my Win 7 laptop to a new laptop with Win11. All was OK for awhile. One day all of my Local Folders were no longer in alphabetical order. Some folders, like Outbox are under Local Folders. Is there a fix? Please don’t tell me to uninstall and re-install.

I have a shared family calendar and a private google account calendar that is separate. I tried importing some events from the family calendar to the private calendar. I created a .ics file, and started using the calendar import function in Thunderbird on my Ubuntu laptop. I found the file, selected it, and filtered for current and future events. I then clicked the confirm import button, and the screen changed to a view progress screen. This screen correctly shows the target account, the source file, the import type, and the number of events, so I think it's correctly set up. The progress bar shows "Importing... 0%", and there it appears to stall, consistently after several attempts. I saw another thread that talked about read-only calendars, but I don't see a setting, either at the Thunderbird level or at the calendar level that might be restrictive in that sense. Is there a preparatory step or a setting I'm overlooking?
