I am helping a friend who has a problem when opening any browser software on an old laptop so I cannot operate the syncing option. The old laptop uses Windows 10.

I want to transfer (to new laptop running Windows 11) the history, bookmarks and passswords by copying from users/hername/AppData/ but do not know which files need to be copied

When I tried to log in to my account earlier today, I found that it was gone. I used my recovery key to create a new password and now lost all data, passwords etc. What do I do now? Why did this happen? I am not very computer literate but have tried all of the suggestions in your help forum and nothing works. Nothing has changed on my computer since my last login yesterday. Firefox is my home page and browser.

I am running Firefox 148.0 and Thunderbird 148.0. I am in the process of moving everything to a new (to me) computer that will run Windows 11. When I start Firefox from the start menu or the taskbar everything runs as expected. I have the Adblock Plus extension plus several others running. If I click on a Hyperlink in a email in Thunderbird instead of opening in a new tab into the currently open copy of Firefox as it did on my old computer running Windows 10 it opens in a new window with no extensions. I am assuming that I have something set incorrectly. Any help as to where I should look to fix this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Today my goggle searches, are being sent to the address bar, and have the google tag in front of them, I cannot use any of the other search engines that drop down from the upper search bar, so just google, and that is really hijacking my search.

You have a split-screen feature. That's awesome! Please make it accessible through the context menu (right-click), so I can hover over a link and select it from the context menu. So I can do it through the context menu instead of through tabs.

my PC was lagging on wake up so I was disabling some things at startup like duck duck go and copilot to see if that helped. I have windows 11. somehow during the process my google sheets will no longer perform copy > paste special values anymore. It works on my Mac and it works on other browsers, but I need it to work on firefox. went to google sheets help, they are also stumped.

When I opened up Firefox this evening, websites stopped working if "DNS over HTTPS" is set to "Max Protection". In some instances, such as YouTube, the website loads, but it acts like you're offline and tells me to turn on my Wi-Fi even though it's already on and running fine. Weirdly, it seems that setting DNS over HTTPS to Max Protection, loading a website, set DNS over HTTPS to a lower setting, and then reloading the website fixes the issue, but it'd still be nice if we didn't have to go through the hassle at all. Thank you for your time and patience.

I am running Windows 11. Firefox 144.0 (64-bit)

When entering search terms into the search bar in the centre of the page, the information typed appears in the address bar, even after following the fix described in 1284577.

Treating the address bar as the search bar appears to be the default. While the user can additionally deselect the search engine in the address bar, that is an unnecessary and undesired additional step for every search (the primary reason I am using Firefox)

Is there a way to permanently set the default for what I enter into the search bar to remain in the search bar and not to be managed by the address bar? Thanks, Rich

I am getting repeated pop up "alerts" from Firefox, McAfee and others about Trojan Horse and other viruses. I did not click on the links offered. How do I stop them from coming?

Following a recent Firefox update, 1.48.0 I think, the search box in the middle of the page no longer works, any attempt to type there ends up in the address bar. I have tried setting "browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.improvesearch.handoffToAwesomebar" to false and other suggested fixes on the internet but it made no difference. I am running Windows 11 Pro, fully updated. Hope you can help Regards Keith

I went to [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-backup] and under "Create a Firefox backup file" at step 3 it says, "Scroll down to Backup, and click Manage backup" but when I went there no such "Manage backup" option exists as you can see in the attached screen capture. So what gives? How can I "Create a Firefox backup file"? I am using Firefox v147.0 (64-bit) on Windows 11 Please instruct. Thanks RJB

Previous solution: switch browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.improvesearch.handoffToAwesomebar to false does not work anymore.

How to edit shortcut keys for the extension- Read Aloud: A Text to Speech Voice Reader ?

When trying to assign a new shortcut of my choice, it gets deleted automatically.

I was able to do so in Chrome and Edge browsers.

Please help me to assign the same shortcut keys in Firefox also..

My passwords have been randomly disappearing from my PC. My android has the passwords intact but it will not sync in either direction. I have followed every instruction that I can find with no success.

On a couple of occasions, a successful sync has happened randomly a couple of days later.

On this occasion no syncing so far. (two days)

I am feeling that Firefox is becoming somewhat unstable, which is a shame as I have been using the browser since Noah was a lad.

Any ideas?

I know you can block it and opt out of the AI options in Firefox, but just wanted to voice my opinion.

We did not ask for it, nor do we want or need it. The bubble's gonna pop soon and then we are stuck with these AI artifacts.

By default the AI options should be blocked/off/opt out. If we want to use it, we'll opt in ourselves.
