I wish to upgrade from 2.0.0.20
But when I click upgrade I am told additional details of the updated version are not avaialble. It then tells me to go to mozilla homepage. What do I do next ? Can I install the latest version over the current one or do I need to uninstall it first.

Try the alternate and easiest way by downloading here
You should either install Firefox 9.0.1 in a separate folder from Firefox 2.0.0.20 or uninstall 2.0.0.20 first if you want Firefox 9 to be installed in same place.
The Firefo 2.0 and 9.0 are two very different versions as mixing the two by installing Firefox 9 over 2.0 can postentially cause unwanted problems like crashing.
Your settings are in a separate Profile folder and do understand that any Extensions and Themes versions you have on 2.0.0.20 will Not work on Firefox 9. They will either need to be updated or alternate extensions/themes needs to be found.
