Why does Firefox indicate I am up to date when I have V 3.6.23?

When I check for updates: Help>Check for Updates Returns this: There are no available updates I am using V 3.6.23, but on this page: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/fx/ It says: "Hey there! Looks like you’re using an old version of Firefox." What is causing this problem? I have been reluctant to upgrade because the extension Lastpass V 1.74.0 is reported by Firefox as one of the extension that is not supported with an upgrade. Consequently, I am now wondering if Firefox is incorrectly reporting that also.
