Why does it take me to google search?

I think Google is the default before you change the search engine. You can change it by https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/change-your-default-search-settings-firefox

I have the same issue. I hate Google as a company and never use their search so I keep bing or duckduckgo as my default but Firefox keeps switching back to Google. It just happened again that the default search was google when I 100% changed it last week. I haven't reset my phone or firefox settings so I don't know what's up but would love if it stopped happening, I hate even accidentally giving them data.

I'm assuming you're also on iOS but would love if you file a new thread with your device info yourself — I'll show you how to grab logs etc. — there was no change in the search engines that would warrant their reset, and even if you traveled countries the choices you mention should have been sticking even between regions, so that's definitely unexpected!
