thunderbird email screen states unable to connect to localhost. have deleted and reinstalled thunderbird. deleted my avira antivirus. email shows screen to 2 seconds then unable to connect screen appears. checking task master show thunderbird with 2 to 4 connections. reset these. no help. email worked yesterday.

This indicates an error in the email provider's setup, as thunderbird does not attempt to connect to local host. Check your incoming and outgoing server settings as that defines where thunderbird attempts to connect. The server info, or the settings, may be wrong.
