basically just the title. In the last couple days youtube.com specifically has been borderline unusable for me on firefox. All other websites work fine for me on firesfox and youtube has no issues on other browsers.

Recent months have seen YouTube stepping up its fight against users who block the display of ads, contrary to the terms of service. Previously, people with some blockers installed could face a complete blocking of access to content, but now YouTube is experimenting with another method - deliberately slowing down the service to force removal of the ad blocker or purchase of YouTube Premium.

The slowed performance of YouTube can be seen mainly in the context of the video loading buffer. With the ad blocker enabled, the buffer seems to run much slower, or for a good few seconds almost not at all, when the user decides to spontaneously jump to another moment in a given video.

YouTube users who have noticed the problem report that it is very easy to recognize. The site acts as if there is a problem with the Internet connection. However, it is enough to disable the ad blocker in the browser so that the smooth operation of the buffer, and thus the loading of videos, is immediately restored. YouTube users have noticed such a method by Google before, but only now the measure seems to have been implemented on a large scale and may affect everyone.

yep turns out it was adblocker making it lag so hard, I heard about google doing this to people who use adblockers but I didn't think to check it since i already had youtube premium. I have since whitelisted youtube on my adblocker and have had no issues since.

The latest version of Firefox (127.0, 64-bit) for Windows 10 is unusable for YouTube video playback. It only buffers the initial 20 seconds and then stops. Sometimes it does this in the middle of a video. There is no such problem with my secondary browser, coincidentally owned by Google, Chrome. What scummy people these alphabet freaks are.

I have this problem too using youtube PREMIUM - with addblockers DISABLED.

This is a deal-breaker for me as watch a LOT of youtube and just hanging around waiting all the time.

Add the User Agent Switcher and Manager extension, then configure it to tell YouTube that you're using Chrome. The problem vanishes. Edit: not necessarily. But I don't seem to be able to delete this, so here we are.

Youtube issue will be fixed in version 127.0.2. See https://www.ghacks.net/2024/06/19/google-disrupted-youtube-video-playback-on-firefox-again/

Sadly - this is NOT fixed......worse in some cases! Working for you?

V frustrating - it does seem to be better, but some channels still having problems - maybe it will take a while for it to settle down?

It should be better, at least for recorded videos. Try to click the "Share" button below the video → Click "Embed" → Play the video that loads up.

Nope - still doing it - Premium - no ad blockers are installed...

Videos stop in the middle too..... very annoying!

This is fixed in ver 128.0.0!
