Can I set a private window to show me which links I've clicked already? (eg a darker font color like a normal window.)

Of course when I closed & restarted the private window these colors would reset, & every URL would look new.

I realize private browsing doesn't keep cookies, but maybe the browser has another way of storing a list of the URLs I've clicked on.

You would have to bookmarks links you visited in PB mode if you want to remember them.

You're interpreting this differently than I meant it.

I don't want to remember these links- I want to avoid links I already clicked on.

That is the same, Firefox checks the history to see what links have been visited and marks them as such with the visit color. If there is no history record then there is no way to mark a link as visited although an extension might keep its own visit data.

Maybe there is an add-on for this.

Are you using a private window because you share this computer and don't want anyone else to see your history? In that case, it would be important to select an extension that encrypts the private tab history you have it store. If you don't care about the security of the local history list, then that wouldn't be a necessary feature.

It's just me alone.

Here's why this is a big deal to me:

Some websites flood you with content based on what you click on. To avoid that I'll open a link in a private window, eg often on youtube or social media. Then I click around for a while (eg leaving it open for days or weeks). And it's super annoying that I can't tell what I've already clicked on.

Firefox does seem to keep a *partial* record- even in private mode you can click 'back' a bunch of times.

But an extension might fix my problem too.

Some history is kept in memory as long as the private window is still open as a convenience, but it's nothing like regular windows.

Yes, and I leave my private window open for days or weeks.

I would love if Firefox used that history to show me what I've clicked on already. (Clicked on since opening the window.)

I realize it'd reset when I restarted the private window & I'd be fine with that.
