Use the Firefox down-loader. Words well except when I attempted to download Ken Burns (Country Music) from PBS, video was excellent but no sound. Sound good on other downloads.

Hi glen4141, how are you downloading the video? If the site offers a download, that usually would be a complete file. If an add-on is intercepting bits and pieces of audio and video and putting them together into a single file, there is the potential for error.

When I look at the first episode of County Music, and open the Network Monitor (one of the Developer Tools), it shows that the video and audio are sent to the browser in chunks. Screenshot attached for reference. So possibly the downloader you use isn't reassembling everything successfully.

This download manager works separately from the browser. The browser tells it what to download, and off it goes.

http://www.freedownloadmanager.org It is a powerful modern download accelerator and organizer for Windows and Mac.

Tried Freedownload Manager. Had difficulty geting URL in the downloader and when I did it it would only download 212 Klps. Added and extension to the Firefox downloader but kept getting the same result---a great video but not sound. Tried some other downloaders but get anything with them because of size limitations and other restrictions. Any other suggestions??

Make sure you are not blocking content.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

One issue that seems more common lately is Firefox's Content Blocking. When it is blocking content in a page, a shield icon will appear at the left end of the address bar next to the padlock icon. This article has more info on managing this feature:
