Access denied message shows up while trying to log out of mozilla support community
I went to "view profile" and clicked on the the "4 questions" under "contributions". While on this page that shows the questions I posted, I clicked "sign out" and this error message showed (see screenshot) Access denied: you do not have permission to access this page. I think when I clicked sign out again, the window got blank as seen in the second screenshot. Any idea why this happened?

I'm not sure how you got that "not authorized" page.
I see two different links to Sign Out. One is on a drop-down menu from my username, which works, and one is in my profile page, and doesn't work. I'm attaching a screenshot illustrating where those are.
Is there another link I didn't notice?
There actually is a separate forum to discuss issues with the site. If this occurs frequently for you -- I almost never log out, so my experience probably is not typical -- you could report there, too.

I'm talking about the dropdown menu you mentioned
It is possible that your access has been revoked if you can not sign in and get the Not Authorized as tried going some where that was of limits or during the sign out something got crossed up. Once are Authorized would have access to tools that Contributors do.

during the sign out something got crossed up? what do you mean? and I can sign in and sign out now.. no issue is seen for now
Have you posted this on the contributor forum, like jscher2000 suggested ?
I have had the same thing before myself and has been Click Logout and hit Back Button on the mouse.
Also logged out and hit inbox with mouse by accident.
I would say it is nothing to be concerned about as it is not hampering your browsing or performance.
Have had nights login but answer a question and can not get back to the main page.
I overlooked the fact that you said :
