What can I do about slowness when refresh and safemode don't work?
I can't effectively use firefox anymore because several seconds pass before any key stroke or click registers. I have tried the directions of troubleshooting: only refresh and safemode are recommended. I"ve even uninstalled firefox and downloaded it again and everything is the same. I'm on a microsoft surface book with windows 10.

If you use Avast or AVG and they haven't updated yet this week, make sure to trigger an update since last week's update causes severe performance issues with Firefox 58.
Refresh and safemode were ineffective. I don't use avast or AVG. This slowness has been a problem for weeks and initially, firefox did shut down a number of times.
