Can I have 2+ instances of T-Bird installations on 1 PC, so that I can have diff email addr in each instance,

Hello: I want to have multiple Instances (2+) of T-Bird on my Comp. Yes I know I can have multiple addr/accts at the same time; however I have 2+ grps of email addr, that I want to access separately, and not always wait for say 10 email accts to be down loaded,.. but rather, say 5 each in each version or install of T-Bird.

For me this is more efficient, and has better ease of use, as I have diff email accts for diff purposes,.. personal,.. business,.. financial, social interests, etc,..

I have Win 8.1 on laptop, (and also Win 7 on another desktop,. to be synch'ed).. And I don't mean grps of 5 email add on each computer,.. I mean say 2x5 emails accts on EACH comp,..!

To be clear,.. I want to have 2+ instances of T-Bird on 1 PC, so that I can have diff email addr in each instance, I have many addr, grouped in 2+ grps, for ease & efficiency.

Thanks,. I love T-Bird, ... much better than Outlook, or Gmail, or Hotmail !

I appr the technical doc article u sent,.. it does help me a little with better und,.. of profiles & file org, .. but it isn't what I want,..

Right clicking on a folder - opens the SAME accts in another tab,.. BUT what I want is opening 2 s/w versions of T-Bird,... similar to the Old WORD OR EXCEL sw versions,.. which opened 2 totally diff windows,.. as if double clicking Word 2x, separately to open 2 diff versions ,.. I want the same with T-Bird, to open diff email accts in the 2nd instance,..

I want to open T-Bird-A to have say 5 email accts I use for personal info,.. and another version T-Bird-B, totally sep {profile/files/structure/settings } of say 3 email diff accts I use for business,...

..Maybe I need to have a diff profile setup,.. [that is the helpful part I read in article,.. Thanks !],.. perhaps that will work,..

But how do I create another profile on same computer,.. and how do I install or open another version or instance of T-Bird-B

I know this is a long Q?,.. but hope that clarifies what I want,.. I am sure there is an easy way,.. I am a little techie,. am learning,.. but need some guidance,..

Thanks

You need one profile for each set of accounts. So if you want a group of five accounts, and another of four, you'll need two profiles, one with the five accounts, and the other for the four accounts. That article will help you set up Thunderbird to run twice, each using just one of the two profiles.

Personally, I consider multiple profiles a headache and I choose to use a single profile with all my accounts in it, and various add-ons to help remind me which account I am using, so I don't send messages using an inappropriate identity.

In case you weren't aware, by default Thunderbird adds accounts as separate entities, each with their own Inbox, Sent, Trash and Junk folders (etc). It won't mix together messages from different accounts unless you specifically choose to set it thus.

BTW, running two profiles doubles your workload. Two address books to manage, two sets of filters, two sets of add-ons and other customizations, and two sets of backups to consider.

I use an email client because I want all my email in one place, with the same interface and toolset for each account (as opposed to webmail). I can't see the attraction of splitting it into two.
