INTERNET FOR PEOPLE NOT FOR PROFIT

I am concerned about the reports that Mozilla has partnered with NBC Universal to inject code into the Firefox browser without permission of the people using it, specifically regarding the Mr. Robot Promotion mentioned here: https://sircmpwn.github.io/2017/12/16/Firefox-is-on-a-slippery-slope.html

INTERNET FOR PEOPLE NOT FOR PROFIT

I use Mozilla products because you have always bolstered a strong commitment to usability and to privacy.

INTERNET FOR PEOPLE NOT FOR PROFIT

My internet browser should be a TOOL not a conduit for you to advertise to me.

INTERNET FOR PEOPLE NOT FOR PROFIT

I need to know if these reports are true, and if so what is being done in terms of corrective action to make sure that stuff like this NEVER happens again.

INTERNET FOR PEOPLE NOT FOR PROFIT

I am a privacy advocate and I have been using nearly exclusively Firefox since 2004 as a replacement for Internet Explorer. I have donated many times to the Mozilla foundation. I have recommended countless other people to switch to Firefox. I have applauded the recent redesign of Firefox and have (possibly too soon) championed it as the best browser in 2017+. I am now doubting all of the effort I have put in to supporting you.

You need to save yourselves from this, quickly. If this report is accurate I call on Mozilla to: 1) MAKE AN ANNOUNCEMENT acknowledging this is a mistake, and recommitting your goals to INTERNET FOR PEOPLE NOT FOR PROFIT 2) TERMINATE employment and remove contributor access for anyone involved with planning/developing the rollout of this feature, for breaking the number one promise Mozilla has made to its users that people care about.

I'm switching to Opera TODAY and I will not come back to Firefox until I hear an appropriate response from you.

This is unacceptable.

IN case you need to read the manifesto you send out to your customers. Whoever made this feature didn't. https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/about/manifesto/

It was not injecting code as it is a Extension which had no privacy concerns nor does it collect or share any data. It was not a mistake in doing this per say.

Mozilla has bowed to the people who have been making this collaboration into a much bigger issue than need be by uninstalling the extension for users and the extension will instead soon be hosted on addons.mozilla.org/firefox/ ... https://gizmodo.com/after-blowback-firefox-will-move-mr-robot-extension-t-1821354314

Since this was more a Rant (with the Caps like you were holding up a sign) and not asking for help the thread may as well be locked.

There’s another ticket, filed by concerned users, which has since been disabled and had many comments removed, particularly the angry (but respectful) ones.

The three related Bug reports were restricted to only those who are part of editbugs group to be able to comment. The bugs were getting a lot of pointless comments Spam which did nothing to help. These comments were initially hidden but some were deleted later. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/page.cgi?id=etiquette.html

Hey there o/

I wanted to reach out for a friendly reminder that these forums are used for supporting Firefox users with questions about the product and those having trouble with technical issues.

I am going to lock this thread, as this is a post about a decision that was made not any issues about the product. Please review the proper channels for feedback ;-) Please consider this as a warning and a nudge to the proper channels :-) input.mozilla.org and your friendly Social Network.

Thanks, Rachel Administrator.
