FF Quantum 57.0/Win 10

I lost some things too valuable and irreplaceable.

Saved Password Editor and FEBE. How would I transfer my passwords and to which program? I really dislike these kinds of surprises. Should I just go back to the non-Q version?

Thank you.

To find replacements for your legacy add-on:

  1. Click the menu button The image "Fx57menu" does not exist. and choose Add-ons (or enter about:addons in a new tab).
  2. In the Add-ons Manager that opens, Click Legacy Extensions
  3. Click the Find a Replacement button next to your legacy add-on.

If a replacement doesn’t exist or isn’t helpful, please use this utility to find recommended alternatives. If you don’t find a suitable replacement, please head over to the add-ons forum for help. We expect legacy add-ons to continue migrating to the new WebExtensions standard, even if they missed the Firefox 57 release date.

There’s also a community-sourced list of alternatives on Google Docs.

Due to other changes in Firefox, Mozilla could not delay the switch to WebExtensions APIs. Mozilla Support volunteers are here to help you find alternatives to your favorite extensions. To start, use this utility to find recommended alternatives. If not, please head over to our forum to ask for help.

What add-ons are compatible in Firefox 57? You can search addons.mozilla.org for compatible extensions here: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/search/?tag=firefox57

How can I keep track of what add-ons are ready? These are being tracked here: https://arewewebextensionsyet.com/

Thank you for answering so quickly.

I understand that I am a beneficiary of the generosity of many people, but/and this is quite a surprise.

I found where my legacy addons were located, but there are no adequate replacements, let alone something remotely similar.

I admit NOW that I scanned (not read) most of your suggestions, but I have too many websites where I need my passwords readily available. Without access to FEBE (which backs up & stores all FF programs, history, and settings, etc,) It is impossible to restore settings. Without PW manager, obviously, I have to request and justify new PW with many, many accounts.

This is why I am annoyed. Positive changes are good - these two issues are not easy to overcome.

Thank you.

v57.0 that was not the Quantum edition worked with the programs that don't work now.

With the link you provided, do I click on and download each line? I don't understand when the link is this technical. A link for the pre-Quantum link would be appreciated.

TY

Hi CiaoBella1, extensions in Firefox 57+ can't do what FEBE did, and might not be able to do what Saved Password Editor did.

You can consider using a more general backup/restore program or service instead of using a Firefox-specific one. All of the important stuff is in the profile folder mentioned in this article: Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles.

Firefox's password manager is still there. Is it enabled? If you check the Saved Logins button, do you still have your passwords? These articles might help:

PW Manager is enabled and has a ton of data in it. I had no idea.

As far as FEBE, I imagine my daily backups sweep up changes, but I don't think I could restore just FF files. Will research and read your suggested articles another time.

Thank you.

You can recover them by doing this.

Going back : unfortunately 56.0.2 is no longer safe to use for every day use do to secuity issues, but 52.5.0 ESR is. It will continue to get security updates until May 2018, and you can download and install it from this page: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/ Note : Legacy Extensions will be deleted or removed in any version update after May 2018.

You should make a backup of your Profile before going back and just because: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Pkshadow,

I said earlier that if I were to go back, it would be to the NON-QUANTUM 57.0 version.

So far, and I haven't used FF as often as I usually do, I'm good with this version, It didn't take as long to adapt as I thought it would, because most of my passwords are saved in PW Manager.

I just need to figure out how to replace FEBE, and maybe Chuck (I think that's his name) is working on it.

Thank you.
