Whenever I start Firefox, Session restore defaults to a session from about 6 weeks ago, This seriously hampers progression, some tabs are "dead", others horribly outdated, not to mention the loss of recent tabs (recent history only remembers a few)

You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js file in the Firefox profile folder that stores session data. When sessionstore.js is deleted you lose pinned tabs and open tabs and you will have to recreate them, so if necessary make a note or bookmark them.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

Side note: you appear to have 2 Flash versions installed according to the reported info on this forum. Make sure to uninstall the 11.5 r502 version at least, or uninstall both of them and reinstall the latest version only, if needed. They may both show up in the Addon Manager > Plugins, or in Programs and Features in Windows.
