After trying to open an Epub in Calibre, I suddenly had endless tabs opening in Firefox. I disconnected, stopped Calibre, stopped Firefox, restarted Firefox, and eventually they stopped popping up.

I need a number of accessibility fixes to use Firefox and to browse the web, so I can't refresh Firefox.

I checked the Applications prefs but can't see anything that could trigger this in Firefox.

I can't find any info on what could cause this in Calibre either.

I suspect something was wrong with the Epub.

You get tabs opening endlessly if you select the Firefox program to handle a file when you get an "Open with" dialog. You should never select Firefox as the application to handle a file.

Try to rename (or delete) the mimeTypes.rdf file in the Firefox profile folder to reset all file actions.

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:

And I didn't do that. Although I hope removing mimetypes helps.
