Firefox 57.02 issues with freezing and multiple applications in Task Manager
Ever since I downloaded the latest version of Firefox (57.02 64 bit) on Windows 10, I've had major issues with it constantly freezing. Also, when it freezes, the only way to close out is via Task Manager. When I go to do so, I see multiple Firefox background processes taking up all memory and much of CPU. What is the issue here, and how do I fix it?
By the way, my time and date are correct (I've seen this listed as a solution elsewhere), so it's not that.
Thanks.

Sorry to hear about the freezes.
First, there is a problem related to Accessibility Services that is affecting numerous Windows 10 users and might also affect users of some older versions of Windows. Please see the reply from philipp in the following thread in case this bug is affecting your system: Firefox 57 hangs up.
We have a general support article on freezes: Firefox hangs or is not responding - How to fix.
Firefox is a multiprocess application, so seeing 5 or 6 processes would not be unusual. You can experiment with reducing them if you like. See: Firefox's performance settings.
Thanks. I did as those posts suggested but problem persists. Also, forgot to note that the sound often suddenly goes mute as well. I have to restart Firefox to get the sound back each time.
Perhaps best solution is to start using another browser. Been using Firefox for as long as I can remember, so hate to switch, but this is getting too frustrating.
Please check : Go to the Firefox 3 Bar Menu --> Help ? --> Troubleshooting Information Page and take a look in the Accessibility section if accessibility is set to "true" there. if yes, go to the Firefox 3 Bar Menu --> Options --> Privacy & Security panel and under Permissions check the setting to Prevent Accessibility Services from accessing your browser. Restart Firefox
If older system : You could try this please : Go the Menu then Tools --> Options --> Performance and untick everything. change the recommended size lower then see how it runs. Note: 0 = No Multi-proccesor = slow again. Try 2 Restart Firefox after making these changes please.
Please keep Video Card Drivers Updated, very important. Thank You.
