Account recovery key

If you reset the password for the Mozilla account because you do not remember this password, then that will remove all data stored on the Sync server because this password is used to encrypt your data locally before it is uploaded to the Sync server and only this password or a possible recovery key you created earlier can decrypt this data.

I have no idea what I am doing. I thought that just having a key was enough but it is not. I'm starting all over and will do everythning they ask of me this time.

I thought there were a dozen pay walls between my me and my data so I paid for a new service for 1 to 2 years each time I got to a a pay wall. I lost track of how many times I overpaid Proton. I will need to go through my credit cards and see how much I am due. Wish me luck, I have spent 3 weeks paying again and again and again. I need professional help but there is none. I am well and truly on my own.
