HI, I have TBird 102.15.1 64Bit installed on several different PCs and laptops. On my main Laptop I checked the Roaming\Thunderbird folder properties and found the following: Size on Disk: 35.8 GB Contains 253,172 files and 1,533 Folders. Is their anyway I can reduce the size? My TBird seems to be running slowly and occasionally stalls. I do not want to switch back to Outlook client program, I am not a Microsoft supporter. I do know I could move mail to local folders but would that mean I could only access them from one machine? Thanks.

Searching calendar events in Thunderbird used to search both title and description fields. For example, if I searched for "dental" it would find events titled "Dental appointment" and also events with "dental" somewhere in the description field. Now it only seems to search the title. I've always put most of the information in the description field, and I use the calendar primarily as a diary record of my life and things I need to keep track of, so this is a major downgrade in terms of usability for me. Is there any way to still search the description field?

after using Thunderbird for years, new incoming email now display as: LP/dfHZJml//VOFFsq+rhu5OJP4DCm6cS7aNBZz0K1VLckif83iE0ZZkBM+RBJ3qjtpfOARokH9i with many more similar lines -- always the same text string though. I have restarted the app, the OS, safe mode, reinstalled the app -- nothing makes a difference. The email are displayed correctly on other machines running other email clients.

I have been having a problem for several months now in Thunderbird. When I Unsubscribe to newsletters, emails, or offers (can be anything from items I buy to political spam), I am directed to an Unsubscribe page. I unsubscribe, yet I continue to get the emails from these companies and people. This is not one company--This is ANYTIME I unsubscribe. I tried repairing my Inbox and that didn't work. What is going on? I am drowning in emails I don't need and can't stop them!

my hotmail account just stopped allowing me to sign on. I was directed by microsoft to update my current settings which did not work Any suggestions? failed update procedure was as follows:

   Microsoft has recently implemented a policy update for new authentication methods.

Mozilla Thunderbird does support Modern Authentication and it is recommended that you ensure you switch to use those settings. Any account that you add to Thunderbird will now automatically setup using the proper settings. You have the following options: Option 1: Update Current Settings 1. Change Thunderbird's server settings: Select ≡>Account Settings. In the left pane, select Server Settings for your Outlook.com or Hotmail.com account. ForAuthentication method, select OAuth2 (instead of Normal password). 2. Change Thunderbird's authentication method for sending messages (SMTP): Select ≡ >Account Settings. In the left pane, select Outgoing Server (SMTP). In the right pane, select your Microsoft account and thenEdit…. <image> For Authentication method, select OAuth2 (instead of Normal password). <image> Select OK to save your changes. Option 2: Remove Current Account and Re-Add If you remove your current account from Thunderbird and then re-add it, the proper settings will be detected, and you will just need to sign in to be properly configured with Modern Authentication and the proper server settings. Problem Migrating to new Laptop

I have three email accounts in Thunderbird on my Windows 10 PC which are all with Yahoo. The accounts are ex Sky accounts but are now run by Yahoo.

I am replacing that PC with a Windows 11 laptop so I need to migrate.

I exported the Thunderbird data using the export tool and when I imported the file into the new Thunderbird installation on the laptop I got three pop up messages from yahoo asking me to agree to allow access but they all related to the first of the accounts. I can send and receive from the first account but can neither send or receive from the other two accounts.

I have tried deleting the last two accounts and adding them manually but the yahoo pop up again refers to the first account.

Any suggestions?

Implementation of current Profile after T-Bird 128 Upgrade

I've been on Thunderbird for almost 20 years and a Mozilla fan. Have evolved a fairly elaborate configuration of local (POP) email folders, rules, calendar, and accounts to manage & organize email activity, retention, archiving, etc. I've not had to deal with Profiles in previous upgrades and don't have much experience with it.

The recent Oct 1 push of Firefox & Thunderbird 131.0 releases took me by surprise. I was able to re-implement the previous Firefox profile to recover bookmarks, cookies, passwords, etc. However, when T-Bird warned that 131.0 was Beta & unsupported I took the suggestion to download & install the current supported release: 128.3.0 (I was on 128.2.3). Then hell came.

Once downloaded, installed & launched, Thunderbird 128.3 cautioned the new profile created with T-Bird 131.0 was incompatible with previous versions and that I should create a new one, which I did. Still could not get new T-Bird to recognize previous profile, so I tried uninstalling, downloading & reinstalling 128.3 multiple times, each time prompted to create a new profile before proceeding. I tried to follow the previous profile restoration process detailed on support forums & articles, but none seemed specifically relevant to my situation.

I located my profiles in the appdata roaming profile folder, including what I think are most recent based on size of mail folders. Can't determine whether I had just one or several in use due to the extent of my setup. Could really use some help & advice to: 1) Determine which profile was in most recent use prior to T-Bird upgrade. 2) Whether more than one profile was in use. 3) Re-implement the profile I was using on T-Bird 128.2.3 with my new 128.3.0

PS You'll ask why I would upgrade to 131.0 from 128.2.3. Answer: it was on auto-update and 131.0 is what was pushed. No more auto-updates for this guy!

I have five email accounts defined on a hosting service. On my computer in Thunderbird I have my main account on the left side followed by one of the other five. Then comes Local Folders and two more email accounts. I can retrieve email into my personal account and the one above Local Folders. I can't retrieve into the other two accounts. My wife's computer has HER personal account and one of the ones into which I can't retrieve. She can't retrieve into that one either. I have checked details of the definitions of the accounts on the hosting service and in Thunderbird on both of our computers and can't find anything different on the accounts that don't retrieve mail. I have an Android tablet running the K9Mail client and have my personal account and one of the problem accounts defined. I setup the other problem email account there and got complaints about it not being from a trusted site. I went ahead anyway, went to my personal account and sent a message to the new problem account and was able to go to that account and retrieve the message. What am I missing?

Modern Authentication Methods are now needed to continue syncing Outlook Email in Thunderbird. I have changed my POP Mail Server settings for outlook.office365.com to OAuth2, but every time that I attempt to logon, the Microsoft Enter code screen is incorrectly displayed (see image). The necessary 'verify' icon is missing, so that whenever I input the required code from my authenticator app, nothing at all happens and then the connection fails.

There are two separate lines shown for inputting the code and this is also abnormal. Unfortunately, neither of them does anything and the same goes for the blank square box, or simply hitting the return key after the code has been entered.

It makes no difference if I delete my Outlook account from Thunderbird and reconfigure the relevant email settings from scratch. I have two Windows 10 laptops with Thunderbird 128.3 and the results are identical on both.

I cannot find a reference to anyone else having this particular problem with Oath2 logins and would appreciate some help.

NB. I have edited out my actual email address which was shown below the Microsoft logo in the image.

Trying to import a celendar event as ics-file (as e-mail attachments or from disk)

It opens a new window that looks like the attached image. Language is English despite the fact that TB is set up to German. It also shows no mailbox or anything, although I have many mailboxes and at least 6 calendars incl. "Lokal Thunderbird" OK dismisses the window and leaves me wth the account setup, all looks as if it a new profile is active

Drag and drop the file to an existing calendar does nothing.

It used to work to import events just by double-click or open them
