Nach einem Absturz musste Windows11 neu geladen werden. Auch Thunderbird musste neu geladen werden. Alle eMails sind vorhanden aber das Adressbuch ist leer. Wie finde ich mein Adressbuch wieder?

I use HTML as my signature. It has been working just find, but lately when people reply to me, their messages were coming in blue text. So today I changed the: Settings > General > Plain Text Messages > Quoted text formatting from blue colour to black (I have no idea how that was set to blue in the first place). that is all I did. Image attached of the change I made.

In any case, after that, when I tried to send a new email my HTML signature no longer displays the correct font (Pristina) but shows only variable text. The HTML file is not corrupt, it still looks fine in the actual file I saved, but, Thunderbird is changing it somehow. Even when I look back at sent files, Thunderbird is showing me the variable text and not Pristina.

It seems that saving mails af text.files has been changed within the last month. Becouce the filename in the overwiev has been shortent and supplied with " ... - " - wher can I find a decription of that ?

Using the get new mails button or the time interval setting may find some messages but not all. The imap mail server is mailin.telia.com. I have been using Thunderbird for several years without such issues until now several months ago. Are there any new settings I should be avare of?

In an answer to a previous question, I learned that Spectrum email has issues. I have since learned that Spectrum is slowly phasing their email out. So I'm guessing that change is necessary for me. If I create a free Outlook account on my W11 desktop, is using Thunderbird still an option? This whole email thing is confusing for me. Thanks for any help.

I use Proton email, but considering the latest revelations from the leadership at Proton and their treatment of employees I am looking for an alternative. Does the Thunderbird team rely on AI for coding? If they do rely on AI is it checked by a person before being used? It seems Proton is satisfied with letting AI code with minimal or no checking by a human.

I have a Win10 PC and a Win11 Notebook. Yesterday I could open my email accounts on both: PC and Notebook. But today suddenly I get the notification, the Thunderbird versions are different and I can not open my email account. Thunderbird versions on PC: 153.6.0esr and Notebook: 159. Why did Thunderbird on the PC not actualise automatically to a newer version, even under Help/About is written "Thunderbird is actualised"?? see attached screenshot.

I am using Thunderbird 158.0 (64-bit) on Windows 11 and cannot connect a newly created Outlook.com email account.

The account works correctly through Outlook.com webmail, but Thunderbird consistently reports:

"Authentication error — Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password."

I have spent considerable time troubleshooting this problem and have already completed the following checks:

Confirmed that IMAP access is enabled in Outlook.com.

Verified incoming IMAP settings:

Server: outlook.office365.com

Port: 993

Security: SSL/TLS

Authentication: OAuth2

Verified outgoing SMTP settings:

Server: smtp-mail.outlook.com

Port: 587

Security: STARTTLS

Authentication: OAuth2

Confirmed both usernames are my full new Outlook.com email address.

Confirmed that Microsoft lists "Mozilla Thunderbird" as an authorised application, with permission to read, write and send email.

Tested network connectivity using Windows PowerShell. Test-NetConnection outlook.office365.com -Port 993 returned TcpTestSucceeded : True.

Created a completely new Thunderbird profile containing only this Outlook.com account. The same authentication error occurred.

Tested Thunderbird Troubleshoot Mode without success.

Confirmed cookies are enabled and Windows is not using a manually configured proxy.

Removed saved OAuth2 credentials and retried authentication, without success.

Tested both external-browser and internal-browser OAuth2 authentication using mailnews.oauth.useExternalBrowser. Neither worked, and I restored the original value of true.

During an earlier attempt, the Microsoft authentication process displayed the error 127.0.0.1 refused to connect.

Microsoft's authorised applications page confirms Thunderbird has the necessary permissions, but Thunderbird still cannot authenticate. I have not successfully been prompted to enter my new Outlook.com account password through Thunderbird.

My existing Hotmail account works in Thunderbird.

Could this be a known Thunderbird 158 OAuth2 problem affecting newly created Outlook.com accounts?

As the usual configuration, password, permissions and network checks have already been completed, I would appreciate advice on identifying the underlying authentication failure rather than repeating those steps.

I have the latest version of thunderbird. This has just started in the past few weeks. I have 3 separate emails that thunderbird handles for me. The main one seems to work fine but slow. The other 2 it keeps asking me to input the password for them. I don't know why because it never asked before. I input the password and it does not accept it for either accounts. why is this happening and how can I fix it. These are roadunner accounts. I know they are "legacy" accounts. We are switching to another email service but need to access the current roadrunner ones for a period of time to make sue we get everything switched over.

Any help will be appreciated.

ich bitte um Hilfe, seit dem letzten Update von Thunderbird auf 159.0 (64-Bit) sind meine Mailaccounts verschwunden. Eins konnte ich wieder einrichten, das von T-Online bringt als Fehler ständig "Fehler bei der Authentifizierung" obwohl alles korrekt ist. Thunderbird kann sich automatisch die Serverdaten für IMAP holen, aber sobald ich das Passwort eingebe kommt der Fehler. Das Passwort habe ich jetzt bereits geändert, dennoch funktioniert es nicht. Was kann ich tun?

Suddenly was unable to send mail on either of my laptops. I have uninstall and reinstalled Thunderbird and windows. All of the SMTP setting are correct. I have tried different combinations of settings but no luck. I have tried every fix on the internet. I am using Spectrum (TWC) for internet. I talked to them but got nowhere. I've used Thunderbird for years and have donated to keep it going. I really like it and don't want to change. Hope you have a way to get me going again. Thanks, Mike

My two Optimum email accounts (POP3) stopped sending messages. See attached error message. They are still working on a different computer with the exact same settings and Thunderbird version (Windows 10 on both too). I also have Outlook and Gmail accounts all still sending fine. Sending from troubleshooting mode and clearing the startup cache didn't help. Any clues what I can try?

my email was previously provided by internode, which stopped. I transferred to the messenger co keeping my email address [redacted]@internode.on.net. However when I activate thunderbird I get a drop down box saying

mail.internode.on.net with username [redacted] failed

I used the option of "cancel" and things worked ok

Each time I open Thunderbird I get the same drop down etc

It is anoying

Does this make sense?

In thunderbird I'm getting the "Help Keep Thunderbird Alive" page, when I click the link it opens the same page (https://updates.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/140.0/nov25c/donate/?form=nov25&utm_content=cta_c&utm_source=in_app&utm_medium=desktop&utm_campaign=nov25_appeal) in the browser. The click to donate button there just opens the same page again and there's no option to donate. The page has a notification that "an extension might be blocking our donation platform" but disabling ublock on the page does not change anything.

Do you have a working donation page anywhere?

I have tried various suggestions, but they all seem to send me to menu options that just do not exist.This is a really old problem and I can't understand why it has never been properly addressed.

Automatic spacing is pretty much universally not standard (It does not occur here.)

So how do I stop auto/double spacing when composing a message, please?

The functionality of the addressbook is very frustrating to me.

I have about 1000 contacts in my addressbook, which I'd love to sort into groups. And when writing an email to a certain group, I would like to display the list of that group in the sidebar of the Email. However, this is only possible when I make a new addressbook for each group, because only addressbooks are displayed as a list with all the contacts contained.

Now most of my contacts are in several different groups/addressbooks (for example, "Steve" is in my "hiking" group and also in my "work" and "neighborhood" group). However, one contact can only be in one addressbook. Meaning if I want to add Steve to the different groups/addressbooks, I have to copy his contacts three times to be able to put him in the three different groups/addressbooks. Doing this for all the contacts I have, it would get cluttered very much, very soon. Which I find super frustrating because it can get very confusing and it just seems so unneccessary. The other frustrating thing about this is, you can't just copy a contact, but you have to create a contact manually each time or via the "save email" button in received emails. But the latter can also be confusing because the format of the saved contact can vary; Steve can either be "Steve Smith" one time, but also "NameIThoughtWasCoolWhenIwas12@narf.org" another time.

What I'd love to have is ONE profile for each contact where I can put in all the information I have/need/want and that profile can be part of several different groups. If a contact has more than one email in their profile (i.e. privat, work), I'd ideally be able to attach one email to one group and another email to a different group. And obviously, the group can also be displayed as a list in the sidebar while writing an email (just like addressbooks are now).

I don't know how it can be implemented (keywords, tags?), but it would be great if it was possible.

I also don't know if it is possible already and I'm just to slow to get it. So if anyone knows a) how to add a contact to several addressbooks without having to copy the contact each time or b) how to display a mailing list as a list in the sidebar, I'm all ears.

About a week or so ago my Win11 laptop stopped downloading my emails reliably. When I open Thunderbird it goes to the server and then to the server inbox and then closes down. This happens most of the time. Occasionally it randomly will download all of the emails accumulated that it had not downloaded before although I haven't done anything differently that I'm aware of. I use Network Solutions to host the email server. I called Network Solutions and they could see nothing wrong. The only thing I see that was not happening before is that I am getting an inordinate number of threat Mcafee popups that I can't seem to stop. I don't know if this has anything to do with it. This has been incredibly frustrating because I don't know what to do. Any help is more than appreciated! It says Thunderbird is up to date and I think the version is 153.6.0esr(64Bit)
