I updated my firefox through my yahoo email because it claimed I needed an update to open my mail but when I did it replaced the old version on my HD and now apparently it's not a mac os version so it cannot be opened whatsoever. I have no other Internet apps so I don't know how I can fix it. Please help

Hi,

Most likely it was a fake Firefox download with malware attached to it. Mozilla doesn't send e-mails for updates. You should download a fresh copy of Firefox below

What operating system are you using? Mac. Windows, or Linux?
You can download Firefox via the default Internet browser:

  • Windows: Internet Explorer
  • Mac: Safari
  • Linux: Depends on distro (Firefox by default in ubuntu)

It wasn't an email it was like on the main page saying I needed an update for the email and when I skipped it my emails wouldn't open so I clicked update. I don't have a default browser anymore my safari had too many issues and I was forced to erase it. I basically have zero Internet options right now

Can you take a screenshot, please see How do I create a screenshot of my problem?

I don't know how to do that on my phone

Hold on, on which device are you having your problem on?

  • Firefox for Android
  • Firefox for Mac or Windows or Linux

Okay,

When you go to the link below, it'll show you how to take a screenshot! How do I create a screenshot of my problem?

Whenever you get a message / popup that software / files need to be updated,

DO NOT USE ANY OF THE PROVIDED LINKS.

While this may be a legitimate message, it could also be Malware or a Virus. Any time you want or need to check for upgrades, go to the web site of the True Owner of the program in question. For example, to check out Firefox, go to Mozilla.org.
