Why when I am in private browsing and I open a new tab does it go to regular firefox onstead of in-private browsing?

Just today when I open a new tab while in private browsing it opens up not in private browsing. Also my purple mask has disappeared from the in private browsing screen. What gives?

Note that you won't see the purple mask when you start Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode (Always use Private Browsing mode; Never Remember History).

You can use an extension to get Private Browsing mode support per tab.
