Change Firefox Sync's syncing intervals
Because it is excruciatingly slow, I would like to not have it sync with every single change I make or bookmark I add. I would prefer to be able to do it manually but simply having it sync at set time intervals would be very helpful. I have no desire to move to another browser in order to retain my ability to sync which is vital due to the number of bookmarks I have. Any help on this matter would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

HI imann08, Essentially you would like to have the Tools > Sync Now option selected each time a bookmark, preference, password or other option is changed on any device that is connected to your sync account. Currently the default interval is 3600 seconds idle time between each device and sync and 600000 between each scheduled sync. It is possible to modify these defaults in about:config if you search for "sync" and "interval" it will filter the entries to show these default values.
These are the values set for planned optimal performance for accounts. However, there is also an option to host your own sync server, which could ideally processes much smaller intervals since there is less traffic. For more information on how to set this up please see: How to run your own Sync 1.5 server
I don't know if I am misinterpreting you here but it seems like I would want to extend the intervals so that it doesn't start syncing immediately after every change in the bookmark library or addition of a bookmark. I wouldn't want to make that interval smaller as it would just make things worse. What am I not understanding here?
Ideally, I would like to sync things at the time I turn on one computer, turn the sync off and then turn it back on to sync when I am done with that computer and plan to move to another as I spend very set amounts of time on each of my two computers.
BTW, I already tried just shutting it down like I described above but that didn't seem to want to work.
