I would like to know if a warning I got was real or a virus. It said Reported Attack Site!

I was using a site I've used many times and I retrieve it from my favorites on my browser. I swear it disappeared from my browser, but it's back now. I then Google search for it and it had a message under it that said "may be harmful to your computer". Thirty minutes later I Googled it again and the message wasn't there and I clicked it and that's when I noticed the icon was back on my browser. Didn't think anything of it until now. Stuff I've been Googling about it said it could be Malware. So now I'm freaking out that my computer could be compromised. Please tell me that those are all the signs of Firefox! I didn't click on the page, so I'm hoping that if it was someone phishing it didn't do any damage.

Any help will be awesome! Thank you

hello Micyvoo, if the warning did look like this, then it was genuine and coming from mozilla: http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/its-an-attack.html (that's just a sample and not malicious in itself).

the list of sites that spread malware is maintained by google, so this would corroborate the fact that the same warning also appeared in the google search results. please note that this doesn't necessarily mean that a site you were visiting regularly has malicious intent - they might also got compromised/hacked and malware may have been put there this way. the fact that the warning is now gone on google.com might indicate, that the remnants of that got cleaned up already... if you trust the site you also might want to contact the webmaster and inquire what was going on...

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
