nightly does not show bookmarks from metro (but does from desktop)

when I open nightly from the win 8 start screen (metro UI) I can't access my bookmarks (they don't show on the opening screen or when I type into the location/address bar).

When I open nightly from the desktop screen, I can open the bookmarks and see all my bookmarks.

Can anyone help me out, I need my bookmarks in 'metro' nightly for it to be any use to me. Otherwise it's uninstall time.
