When I open Firefox I cannot get the default Firefox Start Page since the update to Firefox 20.0 . I have used the Firefox Preferences Restore To Default option but it refuses to work

Hi to anyone still getting the "embarrassing" error message -

I just upgraded to version 21.0 and so far this appears to have solved the problem. When I clicked on About Firefox to see what version I was using, it instantly began updating from version 20.0 to 21.0. I restarted my computer and am now greeted once again by my home page upon opening firefox.

Do you mean the about:home page? You can type that on the URL bar to see if that's what you are looking for.

If that's the one you want, you can try to add it back into your preferences: How to set the home page

It will not take any notice of what i type in. I have Reset Firefox to its Default State and I have also been to preferences and typed in Mozilla Firefox Start Page into the Homepage box and selected When Firefox Starts : Show My Home Page. It makes no difference whatever i do. If I shut down Firefox and then re-open it I get the message:-

"Well, this is embarrassing. Firefox is having trouble recovering your windows and tabs. This is usually caused by a recently opened web page. You can try: "Removing one or more tabs that you think may be causing the problem "Starting an entirely new browsing session"
