How do I permanently turn off Firefox updates?
I am a software tester, and have a wide range of clients that regularly wish to test in versions of FF going back to 3.6, so I need to choose when I update FF. I have tried to turn off automatic updates but with little success. The first time, I just unchecked the three "Automatically check for updates" boxes, and FF went straight back and updated to FF9. Then I just checked the FF box but also ticked the 'Ask me what I want to do' and of course now I get pestered with update messages all the time.
Is there a bug with the updating process? I would have thought that unselecting the FF box would have been enough but even now I'm getting pop-ups telling me to update even though the FF box is not checked.

Options>Advanced>Firefox Updates>Check "Never check for updates(not recommended:security risk)".
I've heard of the option "Check for updates, but let me choose whether to install them" being over-ridden.
I can't think of any reason why you wouldn't update Flash -
