Why do menu items in the task bar turn black when I put my cursor over the?

I jjust installed Firefox and am trying to learn how to use it. When I try to highlight menu items in the history, bookmark, edit, etc. tabs, they turn black. This is annoying and I can't figure out how to change it. Can you help?

Start Firefox in Use Troubleshoot Mode in Firefox to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

  • Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
