Upgrade foxfire version 28.0 cononical 1.0

I have resurrected a PPC ( 32bit) Mac G5 to Ubuntu 14.04, the installed foxfire version is 28.0, canonical 1.0. 

I can not access the internet, as expected, due to an unsure connection.

Is there a way for me to upgrade foxfire? Can I fix the secure connection issue and use still https? Is there a dependence that is needed? What do you suggest? thxs Mart

I'm not sure there are even any useful PowerPC builds available — on Mac OS X back then I could've imagined there being some Rosetta emulation, however how Ubuntu managed that or if they re–built Firefox from sources for their repo back in the day… hard to tell.

My advice unfortunately would be to not try to connect such systems to present day internet, as the amount of unresolved security issues on that vintage will be insurmountable today.

In theory there might be "fan art" forks that are patched to run on similar systems, but the only PowerPC ones I'm aware of are actually only built for Mac OS X and not other OSes like Linux.

As for the TLS, you'd need to a) have correct clock +time zone set, and b) plug in the necessary root certificates (like ISRG roots today) by manually updating the trust store, and perhaps also c) flip the switches for TLS 1.2 support that'd be necessary nowadays.

Personally I'd be looking into just some "remote desktop" use connecting this machine to something more useful on the local network, and using the other device's OS and connectivity to get anywhere "real"… and just drive it via a VNC or something similar.
