Firefox downloads come up as "File Missing or Moved"
Hi, I just upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 home. One of the things that has changed is that my downloads don't stay. After closing Firefox the download is there but if you click on it it says "File missing or moved".

You should check where downloads are saved.
Please follow to change the directory for your downloads. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/where-find-and-manage-downloaded-files-firefox
Hi, Thank you for your response but there is too much information here for me to understand. I am not a computer savvy person. I am a senior. I need precise instructions how to prevent my downloads from disappearing or going to missing files. I have never had a problem before in the many years I have been using Firefox. I want to keep the downloads for easy access for the ones that I use frequently. EX a workbook. Can you help me with this, please!!!!!! Amy
Hi Amy,
Are your downloads fully gone? Or does Firefox just say they are gone, because it can't find them anymore? On Windows Firefox usually saves them in the "Downloads" folder. To open it, just click on the little, yellow folder icon down in your taskbar and then click on Downloads on the left side. Are the files you are looking for in there?
If not, please click on the
menu button at the right side of the Firefox toolbar and click on Settings
Under General scroll down until you find Downloads and check what it says under "Save files to"
Your Firefox version is listed as 140, while Firefox currently has version 150. Could you please check if that really is your version? And, if there is no specific reason for you to stay on that version, please update your Firefox. Maybe that would already fix your problem.
To check just click the
menu button at the right side of the Firefox toolbar, go to Help, and select About Firefox.
If you need help with that, please check: Update Firefox to the latest release
Hi,
The downloads disappear or are deleted from my Firefox downloads not from my computer. I downloaded 3 PDF files this morning and a picture. I closed Firefox and now they are gone from the Firefox downloads. I used these files all the time because they are workbooks. I don't want to go and search all the time in my computer for them. I just want to click on them from my Firefox downloads. It used to be that all downloads would be in Firefox until you deleted them manually.
Firefox says I am up to date in the esr channel. 140.10esr. I got into the channel with Windows 7. that was the only way to get some updates. I upgraded to Windows 10 a few days ago. How can I get back to the regular channel to get 150 update?
Amy
Ok. You can go to
menu -> settings -> general -> Files and Applications
click and select the option Always ask you where to save files
I think you will know where to find the downloaded files.
Hi wxie
Thank you for your response. I have done this already. The downloaded files just don't stay in Firefox downloads after closing Firefox. I would try one more time to download a PDF file and see if it stays in the Firefox downloads menu.
Amy
PS: I was able to get the actual Firefox with the 150.01 upgrade.
If it is just Firefox download panel, you could check
menu - settings - privacy & security - History
Have you checked the "Clear history when Firefox closes"?
You can also set the History in the drop down list to Remember History
Hope it helps.
Hi wxie
The history is saved even from 2015, It just doesn't save the downloads. As soon as I close Firefox and open again they are gone. Amy
