Thunderbird Flatpack transfer to Thunderbird for Android
I am on Thunderbird Flatpack version 115.5.1 and I want to transfer to Thunderbird for Android, how do I do that, please? I am running on Chromebook using the Linux partition. I have exported the profile to a zip file, but Thunderbird for Android won't read it. The zip file is 2.5GB so maybe it is too big. But I am not adept at Linux and I can't find my way to the profile files for a manual copy. When I go into Troubleshooting Information the Profile Directory - Open Directory button does nothing. Alonside it it says "(Lolcal drive)". Maybe I should upograde Thunderbird first, but how do I do that, please?

I have now managed to upgrade the desktop to v140.4 and can initiate a transfer to mobile. It generates 2 QR codes. But my Thunderbird for Mobile on my Chromebook can't read the QR Codes. So how do I now transfer the profiles?
I have now found the profile files on the computer and copied them to a USB drive, and zipped them. The zip file is now 1GB. Thunderbird for android fails to read the zip file. It says "failed to read settings file".
Thunderbird for Android doesn't support and therefore can't read Thunderbird backups or profiles.
What exactly do you mean by "Chromebook can't read the QR Codes"?
Hi Wayne,
Thank you for your reply.
When I click on Import Settings the screen goes momentarily black and then returns to the opening screen (screen print attached).
It looks as though it might be trying to open the camera, but the camera light doesn't come on.
I am on Version Chromebook 141.0.7390.115 (Official Build) (64-bit) and Thunderbird 140.4.0esr (64-bit) running in the linux partition of Chromebook.
And the Thunderbird for Android version is: Android app installed from Google Play Store Version: 13.0
Does your device have a rear facing camera? Or only a user facing camera?
Only a user facing camera.

One question first, you want to transfer your Thunderbird Profile from the Linux Version of Thunderbird (Flatpak) to Thunderbird for Android (Google Play Store) on the same device (a Chromebook)? If yes... The QR Code is only for setting up another Thunderbird, not for profile transfer. Thunderbird on a Desktop PC (Windows, Linux, Mac) is completely different to the Android Thunderbird App. So the profiles are not compatible. Otherwise the Security Settings of Android don't allow such operations for users.

It should be perfectly fine to export settings from Thunderbird desktop running linux to Thunderbird for Android using QR code. HOWEVER, I've learned that some chromebook user facing cameras don't support QR code scanning.
While the camera can read QR codes, the Thunderbird for android app doesn't access the camera properly. It flashes a black creen and returns without trying to read the QR code. I have raised a bug on Github so hopefully the developers can look at the problem.
It's not possible to scan with one camera the QR Code on the same device. Screen and cam are on the same side of the device.

I can print the QR code and then the camera can see it.
That's correct. In the meanwhile I have installed Thunderbird for Android on my Chromebook and I can confirm your issue. I had give Thunderbird the permission for the cam first. After that the cam opens and closes immediately. When I try that again Thunderbird crashed. For that behavior I'll open a own ticket on GitHub.

I have a ticket on Github: https://github.com/thunderbird/thunderbird-android/issues/10033 I recorded it as a bug.
I know your ticket. Yes okay I'll write in that ticket and not in a new one.
