I have been a long time user of FF and have been puzzled by it's recent failure (to both start, and subsequently re-install) For the last 18 months I have been running Win 12 without problems. That is until last week, when I can only assume the Tuesday udates ( MS) has created havoc. I would appreciate any assistance as I am not fond of MS Edge, or Google Chrome. Dave Hickman.

Hi Dave

We're sorry to hear that your Firefox seems to be crashing when you open it. Please perform the following steps to give us a crash report ID that helps us find out more about the cause of the crash.

  1. On the keyboard, press [Windows] Windows Key + [R]. This should bring up a Run box that contains a text field.
  2. In that text field, type %APPDATA% and press Enter. An explorer window should open.
  3. From that explorer window, double-click on the Mozilla folder, then double-click on Firefox and then on Crash reports. Double-click on submitted.
  4. Now, you should see a list of files that contain reports. Go to View > Arrange Icons by > Modified to get the most recent files at the top of the window.
  5. Open the most recent 5 files with a text editor and copy the IDs.
  6. Paste each ID with bp- into the reply window on the forums.

Thanks in advance!

Unsure of what you want now. There was no "submitted" folder - I have sent you the "IDs" in the 5 most recent files in the "crash reports" folder. D.

I have not been able to un-install my latest attempt at reloading FF (143?) because the installation would not complete. So now I'm stuck with an incomplete version of FF which won't run, and won't un-install (a file called helper.exe is cited as being missing). This only leaves me a manual deletion of FF, which would seem to be a rather long exercise, and I presume not well documented. Any thoughts? Dave H.
