This is a recent thing in the last few weeks, My aux speakers (via headphone jack) work normally with all audio output except when using firefox. The sound on any video I play via firefox gets sent to my laptop speakers, not to the aux spearkers. Changing the laptop audio output settings does nothing. The sound is output properly with other browsers. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

Windows 11 recently updated to 24H2. Firefox 131.0.3 My audio had been working normally and well on Win 11 and, I guess, earlier versions of firefox.

Can you post a similar screenshot of the volume mixer?

I had this problem also with my headphones. Go to Settings>System>Sound>Volume mixer and under Apps check to see if under Mozilla Firefox the sound is muted. If so un-mute it. When I did this the sound started working again for my headset. Not sure how this got muted unless it was caused by a Firefox update. I spent many hours trying to resolve this. Good luck.
