How to move a Thunderbird 115.9.0 installation from C:/AppData/roaming to a folder on to a new D: partion ? Should I do a new installation on the D:/ drive, and then copy emails, address lists and folders C: to D:/ Or what options do I have to preserve data.

Your very best protection is regular, frequent backups. Without backups, moving the profile is of little value.
