
Connecting to pop3, but then times out
error message is "Connection to server pop3ruthnaylor.com timed out.
It's working fine on my mobile as I used stackmail.
What is the problem? and how do I fix it?
I am at a large company logged in as a guest. Everything but Thunderbird works just fine.

Does the error message actually refer to pop3ruthnaylor.com or pop3.ruthnaylor.com (period after pop3)? Are the rest of your settings as suggested here, i.e. port 995, SSL/TLS connection security, authentication = normal password, User name = email address?
Timeouts are often caused by antivirus programs scanning email or secure connections. Disable those options in your AV if they're in place.

I think it had something to do with Johannesburg Stock Exchange guest wifi login as it is working find at the place I am staying. Thank you for your reply. Good wishes, Ruth
