To make it much easier to track and retry failed downloads I need to open BOTH downloads AND history in Separate windows at same time, - It can be done with lucky timing from the menu, usually it just toggles around in 1 window Thanks in adv. R

For the downloads you can use the about:downloads page. You can open this page in a new window and open the Library for the history. You can also use the history sidebar for the history and possibly use the same window as about:downloads.
