I am trying to delete some of the contacts in my Address Book. Some can be deleted, others won't.

I will select an address in the All Addresses part of the Address book. Press < Delete> , Press < Okay >. And nothing happens. No matter how often you try, that particuallr address will not delete. Other addresses can be deleted. Which brings me to another issues. I delete an address (i.e. Williams) and the addresses window goes right back top the start. I then have to scroll all the way back to the

< W's>.

lets work on why you can not delete certain names. My guess is it has something to do with the address book in use to populate the all address books item.

The forum software reports that you are using a mac, so my guess is the stuff you can not delete is in the Apple address book, which Thunderbird only has "read" access to. Not write.

I am not sure about the Apple address book. What program would that be a part of? The only place I think I have my email addresses is in Thunderbird. I do not use Apple's Mail program.

And the same address can appear a couple of times.

I'd also suggest you try to delete them in the separate address books, rather than via All Address Books.

All Address Books is a virtual address book, being a composite of all your real address books. So you can't create Contacts in it; you have to create new Contacts in a real address book. Hunting down these problematic Contacts in their own address books will help work out if Matt's suggestion applies.
