Had to "re-set" my Windows 10 laptop. It said that all my files would be safe but that some apps would need re-installation. It turned out that re-setting actually involved a complete re-installation of Windows, and the removal of the Thunderbird app. I re-installed Thunderbird and re-accessed my on-line emails OK, but the Local Folders folder is now empty! And I'd recently cleaned up all my Inboxes and Sent folders by deleting stuff and moving things I needed to keep into Local Folders. Is there any way I can get them back? By the way, this is yet another example of how Microsoft just can't get things done right!

You set these accounts up again? You didn't save your old Thunderbird profile to use again?

I did not save profile because Windows said all my own data and files would be safe, and it did not make it clear that Thunderbird would be completely deleted! Thanks for your input though.

I can't help you with the detail since I don't work with Windows 10 regularly. But if it was done properly, your old data might be stored in a folder named Windows.old.

Copying the old Thunderbird profile over the current (new) one would restore your Local Folders and Address Book, along with all your previous account settings.
