Does Mozilla support Thunderbird or has it been discontinued?

I am new to Thunderbird and really like it but i am afraid to use it because my cable provider said it was discontinued and that Mozilla no longer supported it. Is this true? Also...Why does my screen look different on Windows XP computer vs Windows 8 computer. In XP, the delete, junk, archive buttons are in color...e.g. the X for the delete button is in red. In Windows 8, on my newer computer...these buttons are grey-ed out...no color??? Why is this??

I would greatly appreciate a response. Thanks for volunteering!!

The buttons on my Window Vista TB version 31.4.0 are greyed- out - neutral background taking the colour of general background with black text and icons. This is the normal design.

However, it is possible to download and use a different theme or use an addon to change toolbar buttons/icons. Read some of the comments.
