When you first click in the address bar, before you type any text for Firefox to match off of, it shows the first 6-10 shortcuts from the built-in Firefox Home / new tab page. Depending on your preference, you have these options:

(1) Curate the shortcuts to be sites you visit frequently so the list is useful.

You would do this on the about:home page. See: Customize items on your Firefox New Tab page

(2) Stop Firefox displaying shortcuts in the address bar when you click in it.

You would do that on the Settings page. See: Address bar autocomplete suggestions in Firefox

Can you get it working in a way that suits your needs?
