This problem is separate from my unresolved problem on another thread in this forum where I am unable to stream video on Netflix.com (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1232481) I am unable to stream video on two sites: Hulu.com and History.com Both of these sites give me a message to disable my ad-blocking software, and both sites refer me to pages which suggest I am running either Adblock Plus or Ghostery. Neither are installed. In FF options, I tried unchecking "block pop-up windows" but it made no difference. Oh! and clearing cookies did not help. Can anyone help me with this? As always MSEdge streams from all these sites flawlessly.

Your screenshot shows that you have Content Blocking turned on, which makes websites think that you are using an ad blocker.

Hi McCoy, Actually content blocking is set to block only trackers not cookies. So I don't think that should cause any problem.

Disable both of them otherwise it will not load. They use both cookie and tracking to work.

McCoy's suggestion is worth a try. Many of the sites on the anti-tracking list are ad network sites, because if you think about it, who tracks you the most?

Thank you McCoy, WestEnd, and jscher2000. You all turn out to have the solution. Turning off content blocking stopped the ad-blocking messages. It had no effect, however, on Netflix. To avoid losing long-time users like me, I think that Mozilla should fix this content blocking problem, or at the very least notify all FF users to turn it off to avoid breaking the FF browser.

Hi loyall, normally the Tracking Protection part of Content Blocking is only turned on in private windows. When you launch a new private window (Ctrl+Shift+p on Windows) there is usually a dramatic purple welcome page with links to information about content blocking. So on that page, or on the Options page, there needs to be more of a warning about possibly breaking sites?

You can submit comments and suggestions for changes changes to future versions of Firefox through one or more of the following links:

Note that text descriptions get translated into dozens of languages, so they can take a long time to get into the product. If you think it's possible to improve the linked help articles on this site, that might be a faster way to get the word out.

Note that Firefox shows the shield icon at the left end of the location/address bar in case Content Blocking is blocking content. You can click the shield icon for more detail and possibly disable the protection.
