stop mouse wheel scrolling whole pages at a time

All of a sudden my mouse wheel has started scrolling an entire page at a time when I scroll up or down. It used to just go quarter of the way which was much better.

I checked my OS mouse settings and they are set to 3 lines at a time.

As it is at the moment if I try to read our local news website it stops me from being able to click on some headlines.

How can I get the old behavior back?

Open a new window or tab. In the address bar, type about:config. If a warning screen comes up, press the Be Careful button. This is where Firefox finds information it needs to run. At the top of the screen is a search bar. Enter mousewheel and press enter.

Compare your settings with mine;

mousewheel.min_line_scroll_amount = 5

Can you try another mouse to see if your currently used muse is causing this problem?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

My laptop mouse pad / track pad works fine and I just found it happens on IE as well. Rather confused. I use firefox almost solely so just assumed it was only on that. Not sure where to look now.

Ok I just unplugged the nano receiver and put it back in again and it works properly now it must have just got confused. Thanks for the suggestions though I'll keep them in mind.
